Maison Lou Dumont

Mr. Koji Nakada moved to Burgundy, France, on his own in 1996. After studying oenology at the Beaune School of Viticulture and Enology, he founded Maison Lou Dumont in 2000 together with his Korean wife, Jay Hwa Park.
Today, based in Gevrey-Chambertin, he is the only Japanese producer in Burgundy to own and operate his own domaine, earning recognition from wine lovers around the world.

In Burgundy, the most important word is “terroir.”
In Japanese, this concept can be expressed as “Ten · Chi · Jin” — Heaven, Earth, and Human.
Mr. Nakada believes that great wine is born from the harmony of these three elements: climate, soil, and winemaker. This philosophy is embodied in the calligraphed characters “Tenchi Jin” displayed on the orange label of the wine.
His wines were highly praised by the late Henri Jayer, often referred to as the “God of Burgundy,” and were also featured in the acclaimed wine manga series “The Drops of God.”
He was further introduced to a wider audience through the NHK documentary program “Professional: The Way of Work,” making him one of Japan’s most respected winemakers.
